If you’re reading this, the handshake worked and (the) Hyperuplink is online. Welcome to the official blog, the place for release notes, deep dives, and the 3 AM dispatch from behind the modem.

Forums used to be the beating heart of the internet, and running one used to be simple. Somewhere along the way it turned into a stack of stacks, with interpreters, pipelines, sidecars, a search cluster and a small mountain of JavaScript, all to render a simple list of topics. Hyperuplink is the answer to all of that. It’s a modern internet bulletin board rebuilt as a single, dependency-free binary that talks straight to PostgreSQL and serves beautiful, server-side rendered HTML5 and CSS with exactly zero JavaScript.

It’s a single file, without /var/www, with FPM, without a node_modules folder, and it runs on a $5 VPS, a Raspberry Pi, or a full-blown Kubernetes cluster. And the best of all, it comes in an aesthetic that is reminiscent of what one might call The Golden Age of Computing.

This blog is where we’ll talk about how it’s built, what’s shipping, and where it’s headed. Subscribe via the RSS feed so you don’t miss an update, and head over to the Downloads page to grab your copy of Hyperuplink today!
